According to the UN-Food and Agricultural Organization, over 100 million sharks and shark-like fish are caught every year. Sharks caught as by-catch are often “finned”, and the rest of their bodies are subsequently thrown overboard while the shark is still alive.
Trying to stop restuarants from surving shark fin soup is awesome! Especially doing this in San Francisco where there is many Chinese people. If we can be successful in San Francisco it could possibly send a message to the people of China that the consumption of shark fin soup has gotten out of hand and that they need to realize just how harmful this soup is to our oceans.
